It’s Star Wars Day! May the 4th be with you! Here’s Little Sis’ Star Wars Day Lunch. She was eager to help and devour it.
Star Wars brings back some big-time childhood memories. I never realized this until now, but I was 6 when it first came out and watched the movie in the theaters/ that my little bro was 4! That might explain why Darth Vader and the Storm Troopers were the most terrifying things on earth and haunted me and my dreams for years to come! It took many many years before they were replaced by the Borg Collective from Star Trek: The Next Generation and Seven of Nine from Star Trek: Voyager as “the scariest things ever”. Now the only thing that instills such fear is the thought of losing my children in a crowded mall – it’s even worse! Aaaah!
Conversely, there are many fond memories as well. Hearing those two words immediately makes me think of my dear sweet little bro who was completely and helplessly addicted to all things Star Wars. I grew up wanting to be the kick-ass Princess that Leia is (not the frilly pink kind), fell head over heals over Han Solo (not Luke Skywalker) and was utterly heart-broken and distraught when he was frozen in carbonite by that disgusting slobbering (and hilarious) mess known as Jabba the Hut. I could go on and on.
Anyway, this weekend, Daddy and Big Sis are off on their last Y-Princess Spring Outing leaving Little Sis and me to our own devices. Guess how we spent much of Friday?!?! Yes, making this lunch. Little Sis was my partner in crime and was a huge help.
She made the sandwiches using the totally awesome cookie cutters that my wonderful sister-in-law Lisa let me borrow. THANK YOU LISA! She baked and decorated cookies using the same cookie cutters and even helped organize, layout and take pics of this lunch. She’s definitely a mini-me.
Obviously, cutting out the sandwiches takes brains AND brawn!
Surprisingly enough, neither Big Sis nor Little Sis have yet to watch any of the movies. GASP!! I feel they, Little Sis in particular because she’s so easily spooked and scared, aren’t quite ready for it. Somehow, I just don’t want them to live in heart-pounding fear of being imprisoned by Darth Vader and his Storm Troopers like I did as a kid. Haha! That totally explains why Little Sis kept calling the Yoda cookies she was making Yomi – sometimes even Yoshi! She cracked me up and made my eyes roll at the same time. Rest assured, it’s finally ingrained in her cute little head that the name is YO-DA. Yoda. Yoda. She still can’t quite remember the Storm-Somethings, though.
As you might gather, cookie-making was an all day affair. I think *someone* got a little silly (and tired) with the last few “Dark Vader” cookies.
It’s funny how somethings never change. As a kid, I used to hijack my little bro’s Star Wars action figures to recreate my 6th grade class with my buddy Cindy or play with his 12-inch Han Solo action figure to, yes, go out on dates with my Barbies and now as an adult, I once again hijacked them for my Star Wars Day lunch post. Thanks Little Bro!
I quickly snagged some cool lunch accessories from my bro’s collection. Some of the major dudes were MIA, though.
In this Star Wars Day lunch:
- X-Wing Fighter and Millennium Falcon Sandwiches made with Applegate Ham, Pepperoni and American Cheese on Nature’s Own 100% Whole Wheat bread flying in the deep space of Roasted Laver.
- Annie’s Homegrown Peace Pasta and Parmesan Cheese
- Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo Canned Carrots and Cheese
- Sour Cream and Onion Pringles “Man Chips”
- Organic Strawberries and Blueberries
- Star Wars Homemade Sugar Cookies
Lastly, here’s a glimpse of all the hard work Little Sis put into today’s post. You can see her arranging stuff and then snapping up some pictures using my camera phone… and her pictures, too!
May the Fourth be with you!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Feel free to make my day by leaving me a comment, following my blog via email, on Facebook or on Instagram. The more the merrier!

I am completely amazed by your lunches. And I was pretty entertained by your blurb as well. It's nice to reminisce everything from our childhood. I too remember now how I obsessed to be Princess Leia and would always ask mom to put my hair into buns. I am mostly excited of the last batches of your silly cookie faces. My girl could have done the same thing. I truly idolize your creativity. 6 thumbs up. We love it!!
